Biograd na Moru will soon get a Home for the Elderly and Infirm “St. Ante”, a project that will significantly improve the quality of life for older people in this part of Croatia.
A contract has been signed for the preparation of the project documentation, worth €216,212.50, marking the first step toward realizing this ambitious project.

Capacity and Facilities of the Home

The planned building will have a capacity for 220 users, including:

• 102 mobile users

• 102 immobile users

• 16 accommodation units for external users

• A hospice with 8 double and 6 single rooms for intensive care

The facility will consist of four above-ground floors (ground floor and three stories), as well as a basement and partial sub-basement. The project is specifically designed to ensure accessibility for people with disabilities and reduced mobility.

Modern Amenities and Supporting Services

The St. Ante Home will not be just a residential facility, but a high-quality care center with all necessary supporting features, including:

• Doctor’s offices

• Physical therapy area

• Library, shops, and a hair salon

• Pool and jacuzzi area with an outdoor sun deck

• Large common rooms for social interaction

The home’s total floor area will be 6,459.8 m² (net) and 12,652 m² (gross), while outdoor spaces will cover 1,321.4 m². The surroundings will be landscaped with lawns, low and tall greenery, and concrete pedestrian paths.

Environmental Sustainability and Employment

The home will be equipped with a solar power plant on the roof, contributing to energy efficiency and reducing maintenance costs.
It will employ 72 staff members working in three shifts, including nurses, caregivers, social workers, economists, therapists, physiotherapists, cooks, and support staff.

The St. Ante Home will enable users to age safely and with dignity, offering comprehensive medical and rehabilitation services, along with well-planned leisure activities.
The construction and equipping of the facility are expected to further enhance the city’s social infrastructure and raise the standards of elderly care in Croatia.
